Impact of the Draft Master Plan on Middle Head OvalThe impact of the Draft Master Plan on the Middle Head Oval precinct was discussed at the Mosman Council Meeting held on Tuesday 4 April 2023 HPG expressed concerns at the meeting that the lack of detail in the Plan surrounding the proposed re-configuration of Middle Head Oval and relocation of the sports changing facility has the consequence of misleading the public as to the true nature of what is proposed. Read more about HPG’s address to Mosman Council here > After careful consideration and subsequent correspondence with the Harbour Trust, Mosman Council revealed in its report that the size of the oval would be decreased, and the proposed new changing facility /pavilion will encroach on the existing playing field. Mosman Council said, “Council and the community are being shown one outcome in the Master Plan, but the intent of the Trust is different and one which has only now become apparent.” Mosman sporting clubs also expressed concern over the re-configuration of the Middle Head Oval and the relocation of the sports changing facility / pavilion. Mosman Council’s concerns met with unanimous support from Councillors, HPG and Mosman sporting clubs. It must be emphasised however that HPG does not support the construction of any new sports changing facility / pavilion as new facilities would severely impact the precinct’s heritage values. HPG instead supports an appropriate upgrade of the existing facility. HPG looks forward to greeting you at the meeting on Wednesday night, to discuss the Draft Plan and answer any questions you may have. Yours in support of public lands, Jill L'Estrange President Headland Preservation Group
