On 28 November 2024 the Harbour Trust determined Mosman Council’s application for a proposed replacement amenities building and associated works at Middle Head Oval.
We are delighted that the Harbour Trust has agreed with HPG’s position.
What is approved:
Demolition of the amenities building and construction of a replacement building in a new location.
What is NOT approved:
Proposed open-sided shelter (grandstand)
Proposed vehicle layover bay – instead new vehicle drop-off/pick-up arrangements must be provided in the adjacent carpark.
Proposed landscaped area – to be re-designed, minimising hardstand areas and providing shade trees for park users.
HPG has always supported the use of Middle Head Oval for general recreation and sports and has actively campaigned to protect the Middle Head precinct’s sporting heritage. HPG successfully campaigned against a proposal to install plastic grass on the historically significant and environmentally sensitive Middle Head Oval. Supported by Mosman Parks and Bushland, HPG gained the cooperation of Mosman Council and the Harbour Trust to grow specialised grasses, which the football clubs now prefer! IMAGE: Michael Mangold
