Middle Head Oval is currently undergoing the planned improvements promised by Mosman Council. Council voted to upgrade the oval rather than cover it with plastic grass. We await with interest the return to regular public and sporting uses of this precious public space, as do the kookaburras!
You will recall that HPG argued for natural turf on health and environmental grounds. It is interesting to note that a recent study undertaken by researchers at the University of Western Sydney found Astroturf can hit temperatures of almost 90 Celsius during summer months.
