Harbour Trust makes its own submission to the Independent Review

The Harbour Trust has made a submission to the review

The Trust eblast says:

We, as Members of the Trust, believe that the Harbour Trust should be confirmed as an ongoing entity to ensure continued public ownership, access and careful custodianship of Sydney Harbour’s iconic lands, working in partnership with our community. We are proud of the work we have undertaken in the restoration, conservation and remediation of lands in our care. The core components of the Sydney Harbour Federation Trust Act 2001 continue to provide a sound basis for our work.

Our submission points to the need to address the financial sustainability of the Harbour Trust and seeks additional operational and capital funding from Government. We are also proposing that the Government consider providing flexibility for the Harbour Trust to enter into long term leases (up to 49 years) where these are consistent with our values, legislation and Plans.

Our ambition is to welcome all Australians to our sites and fully reveal their rich stories. We are looking forward to partnering more closely with the NSW Government, and broader stakeholders including those within the education and tourism sectors in this endeavour.
