Harbour Trust sites must be kept safe from redevelopment – Zali Steggall

On Thursday 13 February 2020 Zali Steggall announced:

“There are concerns from the community that this Review [of the Sydney Harbour Federation Trust] will be used to justify handing over the sites to the NSW Government, which may put them at risk of extensive commercialisation or over-development.”

”Today I spoke with both Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Environment Minister Sussan Ley on behalf of the community and also delivered a speech on the Review in Parliament. “ [view below]

A submission to the review from the Harbour Trust made public on Thursday 13 February 2020 is proposing that the Government consider providing flexibility for the Harbour Trust to enter into long term leases of up to 49 years. READ MORE ABOUT THE HARBOUR TRUST’S SUBMISSION HERE →

A fourth public forum was announced by the Department of Environment after the date for submissions closed in December 2019. Larger than expected numbers of the community registered for the forum resulted in a waitlist. The reviewers have now announced that the forum has been moved to a larger venue.

Please register and attend the forum on Tuesday 18 February
Sydney Masonic Centre (SMC) Conference & Function Centre, 66 Goulburn St, Sydney.
